We have several open tenured or tenure-earning faculty positions at all levels in the college of optics and photonics in general areas of optics and photonics, including, but not limited to: Semiconductor Photonics, Nanophotonics, Space-related photonics, Aerospace and Defense, Hypersonics; Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twins and Artificial/Augmented Reality. Candidates at the highest level may be considered for an endowed Professorship or Chair position.
CREOL is HIRING
As a result of new investment by the State of Florida and UCF leadership, CREOL is undergoing a major expansion, with approximately 10 new faculty positions to be filled in the next two years. This is accompanied by new faculty positions across the university in several major initiatives to grow research in Semiconductor Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Space and Planetary Instrumentation, Commercialization, and Exploration. We are seeking both junior and senior faculty, and several endowed chairs and professorships are available to attract the strongest candidates. We are seeking a diverse pool of outstanding applicants. Attractive salaries and startup packages are available.

We are seeking candidates for an Assistant (Tenure earning) or Associate (Tenured) Professor of Materials Science and Engineering in the area of Semiconductor Materials. The research areas of interest include, but are not limited to: 1) theory-led discovery of emerging semiconductor materials and novel concept devices and, 2) growth, characterization, and metrology of new semiconductor and quantum materials. This position will be tenured or tenure earling in the Materials Science department, but will be a 50% appointment in the College of Optic and Photonics with some or all of the faculty member’s research laboratories being located in the CREOL.
The Artificial Intelligence Initiative (Aii) is seeking to fill approximately 20 positions across UCF. Among these we will be seeking outstanding Tenured or Tenure-earning Optics and Photonics faculty working in areas related to AI.
We are seeking a leading researcher and educator in the area of space photonics to fill a Tenured or Tenure-earning faculty position in the college of Optica and Photonics. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: astrophotonics; space domain awareness; remote sensing; space-based quantum sensors; space-to-ground and space-to-space communications; and space-based photonic devices. This search is tied to a substantial investment by UCF in its Space and Planetary Instrumentation, Commercialization, and Exploration (SPICE) initiative, in collaboration with the Florida Space Institute, Department of Physics, and other UCF units. This includes the establishment of a dedicated Space Photonics Research Laboratory, a related Space Photonics Undergraduate Teaching Laboratory, and a planned lecturer hire (in addition to this current tenure track search). Candidates at the highest level may be considered for an endowed Professorship or Chair position.
