CREOL is HIRING

As a result of new investment by the State of Florida and UCF leadership, CREOL is undergoing a major expansion, with approximately 10 new faculty positions to be filled in the next two years.  This is accompanied by new faculty positions across the university in several major initiatives to grow research in Semiconductor Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Space and Planetary Instrumentation, Commercialization, and Exploration.  We are seeking both junior and senior faculty, and several endowed chairs and professorships are available to attract the strongest candidates. We are seeking a diverse pool of outstanding applicants.  Attractive salaries and startup packages are available.

Lecturer or Instructor, Optics and Photonics
CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month faculty position at the rank of lecturer or instructor (non-tenure earning) in the area of optics and photonics. This position will be largely tied to a substantial investment by the University of Central Florida (UCF) in its Space and Planetary Instrumentation for Commercialization and Exploration (SPICE) initiative, in collaboration with the Florida Space Institute, the Department of Physics, and other UCF units.

Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Optics and Photonics, AI Initiative
CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 9-month associate professor or professor (tenured) or an assistant professor (tenure-earning) faculty position in the interdisciplinary area spanning Artificial Intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) and optics & photonics. Candidates with a strong background in any areas of optics and photonics that can contribute to AI for Optics and/or Optics for AI will be considered. Expertise that complements those of existing faculty within CREOL and UCF at large are of particular interest. They include but are not limited to 1) innovative use of AI/ML for designing and optimizing photonic materials, devices, and systems, 2) enabling photonic technologies for AI computing and artificial neural networks, 3) AI/ML-enhanced photonics applications including communication, imaging and sensing. Postdoctoral/Research Scientist in Microendoscopic Imaging
The Optical Fiber Communications Laboratory (https://www.creol.ucf.edu/ofc/) is seeking postdoctoral fellows to participate in research in microendoscopic imaging . Candidates with expertise in the one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: Constructing various imaging modalities including photoacoustic imaging, nonlinear/multi-photon imaging, optical coherence tomography, optical diffraction tomography, and ultrasound imaging. Fabricating micro-optic and integrated photonic devices for imaging/microscopy, for example, micro- and nano photonic devices, optical fiber components, and photonic integrated circuits. Simulation of optical and photonic devices using custom and commercial design and simulation packages such as Lumerical, COMSOL. Imaging reconstruction and image processing algorithms, digital signal processing, control/optimization, AI/ML. Integration and control of photonic and electronic devices and instruments. Postdoctoral/Research Scientist in Integrated Photonic Systems
The Optical Fiber Communications Laboratory (www.creol.ucf.edu/ofc/) is seeking postdoctoral fellows to participate in research in integrated photonic systems for applications in communication, signal processing and computing. Candidates with expertise in the one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: Modelling, design and optimization of photonic devices using custom and commercial design and simulation packages. Integrated device fabrication (in house and/or via foundry services) using various material platforms. Optical and electro-optical characterization of integrated devices and subsystems.
