As a result of new investment by the State of Florida and UCF leadership, CREOL is undergoing a major expansion, with approximately 10 new faculty positions to be filled in the next two years. This is accompanied by new faculty positions across the university in several major initiatives to grow research in Semiconductor Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Space and Planetary Instrumentation, Commercialization, and Exploration. We are seeking both junior and senior faculty, and several endowed chairs and professorships are available to attract the strongest candidates. We are seeking a strong pool of outstanding applicants. Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Optics and Photonics, AI Initiative:

CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 9-month associate professor or professor (tenured) or an assistant professor (tenure-earning) faculty position in the interdisciplinary area spanning Artificial Intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) and optics & photonics. Candidates with a strong background in any areas of optics and photonics that can contribute to AI for Optics and/or Optics for AI will be considered. Expertise that complements those of existing faculty within CREOL and UCF at large are of particular interest. They include but are not limited to 1) innovative use of AI/ML for designing and optimizing photonic materials, devices, and systems, 2) enabling photonic technologies for AI computing and artificial neural networks, 3) AI/ML-enhanced photonics applications including communication, imaging and sensing. Postdoctoral/Research Scientist in Semiconductor Optoelectronic Devices

The Optical Fiber Communications Laboratory and the Multiple Quantum Well Laboratory are seeking a postdoctoral fellow/Research Scientist to participate in research in III-V integrated photonic devices/circuits for applications in lasers, communication and signal processing. Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: · Modelling, design and optimization of III-V materials, passive devices, and active devices including amplifiers, lasers, detectors, and (phase, MZI, EAM) modulators. · Integrated device fabrication (in house and/or via foundry services). · Optical and electro-optical characterization of III-V materials and devices. · System applications/demonstrations. Graduate Affairs Coordinator

CREOL, the College of Optics and Photonics, is looking to hire a Graduate Affairs Coordinator. The position will be involved in all activities related to academic admissions, registration, financial aid services, and orientation for current and potential University students. In addition, this position recruits, evaluates, and participates in the selection of candidates for admission. The Graduate Affairs Coordinator will also coordinate with all organizations and individuals involved in the admissions process and advise applicants about educational planning.
