Postdoctoral position is available, subject to funding availability, in the field of experimental optics and lasers in The College of Optics and Photonics (CREOL). Our group interests encompass studying arrays of semiconductor diode lasers in the wavelength range of 400-500 and 800-1000 nm. In particular, we are interested in studying beam combining of semiconductor diodes in 1-D arrays as well as beam combining semiconductor diodes in 2-D stacked-arrays. Both single-mode diodes and broad-area multiple spatial mode diodes are of interest. We are interested in designing and performing innovative experiments to study phase and frequency locking from multiple semiconductor diode laser sources. One of the important issues of our concern is developing scalable designs to phase-lock large arrays of diode lasers, operating in CW, modulated, and pulsed modes. Additionally, we are interested in studying the effects of current modulation on phase and frequency locking of multiple combined diode laser sources.
Position Requirements:
- PhD in the fields of Optics and/or related fields (Engineering, Chemistry, and Physics).
- Proven experimental experience working with lasers and optical systems. Experience working with semiconductor diode lasers would be an advantage.
Our group collaborates with groups in CREOL, ECE and with groups outside of UCF. Ability and desire to work in a collaborative team environment would be an advantage.
For more senior applicants as well as for applicants with outstanding abilities and skills research scientist position could be considered.
For interested applicants, please e-mail your application letter and resume to Professor Yehuda Braiman (yehuda.braiman@ucf.edu). Information about our group interests and research can be found at: https://www.creol.ucf.edu/person/yehuda-braiman/
