Biography

Bruce Chai received his PhD in Geology form Yale and is a Professor of Physics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UCF. His current research includes rare earth and transition metalion-doped solid-state laser materials, nonlinear optical crystals, scintillating crystals for medical imaging, growth of large Nd-YAG slabs, and substrate materials for GaN laser diode film growth. Dr. Chai is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America.
