We are actively recruiting postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers across all 5 of our active programs.
What you would work on
Projects span molecular beam epitaxy of nitride and IV-VI materials, nanophotonic design and simulation, cleanroom fabrication, and cryogenic optical and electrical characterization. Students typically own a thread end to end — design, growth, fabrication, measurement — rather than a single step of someone else’s pipeline.
Graduate students
Applicants apply through either CREOL, The College of Optics & Photonics (Optics & Photonics PhD) or the Department of Materials Science & Engineering. If you are already at UCF, email Professor Nordin directly. Mention which of our research thrusts interests you and why.
Undergraduates
We regularly host UCF undergraduates from optics, materials, physics, electrical, and mechanical engineering, as well as NSF REU students each summer. No prior research experience is required — curiosity and a willingness to learn instrumentation matter more.
