Education & Outreach

The Quantum Leap Initiative aims to build competitive workforce on quantum information science and engineering. With this aim in mind we are planning new interdisciplinary quantum-oriented tracks for undergraduate and master programs at UCF and joint PhD programs between the partner universities. Additionally, building on our existing high school Summer Camp and REU programs, we will develop quantum tracks where students will gain basic theoretical knowledge and experimental skills in QISE.

Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)

REU exposes 10 undergraduate students to ten weeks of research and other educational experiences in lasers, optics, and photonics. Ten internationally recognized faculty members at CREOL will serve as research mentors in this program. The students will have the opportunity to conduct their own research projects in state-of-the-art optics and photonics research laboratories, while being carefully mentored to transition from close supervision to relative independence.

Laser & Photonics Summer Camp

Photonics makes these things, and much more, possible. CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics at UCF, provides hands-on experience as students explore this exciting field of science. This camp is for high school students who are interested in physics and/or engineering and want to learn more about creating the future using light.
