Led by Dr. Braiman, our research takes place within the Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers (CREOL) at UCF\u2019s main campus in Orlando, Florida.<\/p><p><strong>Research and applications: <\/strong>Our group focuses on semiconductor diode laser arrays to study non-linear phenomena, collective behaviors, and phase synchrony, with both state-of-the-art experimental and numerical capabilities. We investigate the effects of external optical feedback and coupling networks between lasers to facilitate high-power, low-divergence, coherent beam emission from laser arrays. operating in both continuous wave (CW) and pulsed regimes to understand and harvest the spontaneous phase-locking and disorder-promoted synchronization properties realized due to the coupling of diodes in an external cavity. This research encapsulates several fields of study such as optical engineering, laser optics, laser physics, and nonlinear dynamics and control. We conduct research that integrates experimental, computational, and analytical methods, focusing on the interplay and synergy between hands-on experiments and theoretical
