A recently discovered soliton regime is that of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/ncomms10427\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pure-quartic solitons<\/a>, solitons that arise from the interaction of the nonlinearity with the fourth order dispersion, and its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.aip.org\/aip\/app\/article\/6\/9\/091101\/279710\/Pure-quartic-solitons-and-their-generalizations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">generalizations to higher-orders of dispersion<\/a>.<\/p><p>Our group is investigating novel integrated platforms to further our understanding of this recently discovered phenomenon and to develop <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41566-020-0629-6\">ultrafast laser applications<\/a> based on it.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div href=\"https:\/\/iopscience.iop.org\/article\/10.1088\/2515-7647\/ac4ee4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Topological photonics<\/a>\u00a0leverages global properties of the dispersion relation of photonic structures to produce robust light propagation.<\/p><p>In addition to the enticing, sometimes counterintuitive, physics that manifest in topological platforms, topological photonics is being investigated for applications in sensing, lasers, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ieeexplore.ieee.org\/abstract\/document\/8848487\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">quantum information<\/a>.<\/p><p>Our group at CREOL is working on integrated topological photonics platforms for the robust generation of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.science.org\/doi\/abs\/10.1126\/science.aau4296\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">quantum states of light<\/a>, with the view set in quantum information and quantum sensing applications.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-33 elementor-top-column elementor-element href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41586-020-2764-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">programmable photonics<\/a>\u00a0has already made waves in the photonics AI and quantum computing communities.
