Biography

Dr. Robert Bernath’s area of expertise is high-peak-power lasers, and the interaction technologies associated with their use. In addition, Robert has worked on many different topic areas including x-ray generation, EUV generation, material processing, laser design and construction, laser plasma modeling, and femtosecond pulse propagation through the atmosphere and the interaction effects. The most recent work utilizing filamentation of femtosecond laser pulses through the atmosphere is ongoing work, some of which will be published in the near future.

Dr. Robert Bernath graduated from Jacksonville University in 2002 with a B.S. in Engineering Physics and a minor in Math, and completed his PhD at the University of Central Florida in Electro-Optics in 2007.

Currently he is overseeing the installation and operation of HEL systems on the TISTEF laser range, and working in the area of laser propagation and interaction effects.
