\u00a0<\/p>

The Heterogeneous Integrated Photonics Laboratory<\/strong> at CREOL conducts <\/span><\/span>groundbreaking research on ultracompact integrated photonic devices and <\/span><\/span>circuits for optical communications, nonlinear and quantum photonics, <\/span><\/span>microwave photonics, and related applications. Our researchers work on <\/span><\/span>the full innovation cycle, from device and circuit concepts, theory, and <\/span><\/span>design through nanofabrication and experimental characterization.<\/span><\/span>\u200b
<\/span><\/p>

Our research primarily targets near-infrared wavelengths<\/strong>, while also <\/span><\/span>extending to the visible and mid-infrared regimes. We work with a broad <\/span><\/span>range of photonic materials, including silicon<\/strong>, III-V compound <\/strong><\/span><\/span>semiconductors<\/strong>, nonlinear dielectrics<\/strong>, and glasses<\/strong>. Many of our current <\/span><\/span>efforts focus on thin-film lithium niobate<\/strong>\u2014a platform pioneered by our <\/span><\/span>team\u2014and its heterogeneous integration with other material platforms.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

The lab\u2019s primary goal is to develop transformative integrated photonic <\/span>solutions through a bottom-up<\/strong> approach, from device and system design <\/strong><\/span>to fabrication<\/strong> in UCF\u2019s cleanroom facilities. When needed, we also explore <\/span>fundamental theory to address emerging challenges and enable new <\/span>concepts.<\/span>\u200b<\/p>

Our measurement laboratories support comprehensive device and circuit <\/strong><\/span>characterization<\/strong>, with optical sources, detectors<\/strong>, and spectrum analyzers <\/strong><\/span>spanning the visible to mid-infrared<\/strong>, as well as RF instrumentation for <\/span>optical communications<\/strong> and microwave applications<\/strong>.<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
